It is important to review our accident checklist below to learn what information you need to record:

Auto Insurance Claims

When an accident occurs:

  • Contact the police while at the accident scene
  • Do not make any admissions of liability/fault, or attempt to settle the loss on your own.
  • Important:Record the following information at the scene:
    • Names and contact information of everyone involved
    • Insurance carrier information of everyone involved
    • Names and contact information of any witnesses
    • Make, model, color and license plate number of all vehicles involved
    • Location of the accident and identity of the policeman on scene
    • Obtain any police report or accident report numbers, the officer's badge number
    • Report to Bluenose Insurance (1-877-565-1988) or the emergency contact number on your insurance card to report the claim as soon as possible.

Property Insurance Claims

When a loss occurs:

  • Contact local authorities, Police or Fire Department services if required.
  • Take steps to secure the property and protect it from further damage if possible.
  • Take photos or video of the scene if possible to help during the assessment.
  • Do not discard damaged property or undertake repairs without approval from your insurance representative.
  • Report to Bluenose Insurance (1-877-565-1988) or the emergency contact number on your insurance card to report the claim as soon as possible. Make sure you leave a contact number where we can reach you.
